With the rapid growth of online e-commerce business models in the Greater China region, and the effect of COVID-19 and rental on physical stores, the customer drove the digital transformation of its internal IT architecture, increased access to its online platforms, enhanced the accuracy of advertising through data marketing, and streamlined the costs of physical stores in a timely manner.
At the network level, the customer's demand was to maintain the traditional MPLS VPN network deployment but with a steady decrease in investment, and to deploy SD-WAN in all new branches and subsidiaries.
SD-WAN solution is based on the light load deployment of the customer's dia dedicated internet access lines, which can be rented and billed flexibly, and the bandwidth is not limited by the capacity of traditional dedicated lines, and multiple labels can be applied and integrated for cost-effective Internet egress.
SD-WAN uCPE devices support 3G/4G/5G uplink channel synchronization, which greatly reduces the customer's cost in link backup.
The customer's data flow interoperates with a large number of mainstream SaaS applications through the SD-WAN network, gaining the support of applications such as Salesforce, Shopify, etc., and also the support of processing functions such as machine learning and big data analysis on Microsoft Azure, which can speed up decision analysis.
The network design integrates internal network traffic and external Internet applications, where SD-WAN solution's definable labels lead potentially risky traffic to critical nodes for processing, while the egress of each branch and subsidiary directly applies software firewall to enhance security definition and control at the edge.
With the agile design and deployment of SD-WAN Enterprise Networking, SaaS Application Acceleration, SD-Branch and Intranet Optimization, Cloud Direct Connect and other mature modular solutions, implementation in more than ten business nodes nationwide and some overseas business nodes was completed within one month to meet the needs of rapid delivery for high-volume and small-scale sites in the retail edge computing.
The customer's business nodes are widely distributed, and considering the geographical location of branches, to make use of the advantages of cloud applications, the route from business nodes to the cloud needs to be accurately reconfigured, without dependance on the default route of the Internet.
The edge access device on the client-side adopts the standard white box platform and extends the corresponding kit, so the all-in-one terminal device integrates all the functions needed in traditional ICT model networking such as routing and switching, 4G backup links, wireless coverage and firewall, etc. The hardware achieves main and backup redundancy to meet the high availability needs of the site while significantly reducing the cost.
